Masta Ace Celebrates 32 Years Of ‘Take A Look Around’ With His Own Action Figure

Masta Ace is celebrating the 32nd anniversary of his debut album, Take a Look Around, by releasing his own action figure — and it’s already sold out.

The Juice Crew rapper’s first solo release arrived on July 24, 1990, and to commemorate the occasion the 55-year-old rapper has designed a one-of-a-kind action figure, which dropped on Wednesday (July 27).

The $90 Music Man Action Figure is decked out in Masta Ace’s signature grey and yellow suit combo, as seen on cover art of Take a Look Around, and stands at 3.75 inches tall. The figures were hand painted, hand numbered and made from biodegradable resin.

The back of the figurine’s box is also labeled with a lyric from “Four Minus Three,” one of the tracks on Take a Look Around. “Lyrics of dialect come from all angles,” it reads. “The cordless mic in my hand still strangles.”

Masta Ace was delivered one of the figurines on Sunday (July 24), and he posted an uboxing video on Instagram to show the fans.

Masta Ace has led a lengthy career in Hip Hop since the release of Take a Look Around. His debut spawned the singles “Me and the Biz” and “Music Man.” The former, a tribute to his Juice Crew labelmate Biz Markie, peaked at No.47 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and No.8 on the Hot Rap Songs. The latter track peaked at No. 13 on Hot Rap Songs and remained on the chart for nine weeks.

Ace would go on to drop seven more albums, and “Me and The Biz” would even land a placement in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Masta Ace isn’t the only rapper with a new action figure. To coincide with the anniversary of his 1991 debut 2Pacalypse Now, the late 2Pac is also getting his own 5-inch tall 2Pac figurine. Set to arrive on November 28, 2022, the 2Pac Funko Pop! comes packaged in a window display box that sees a mini ‘Pac dressed in the same outfit he wears on the cover of his debut. Fans can now pre-order the figurine for $19.99.
