Drake is giving fans something to dance to while they remain at home.
The 6 God has announced that his new single “Toosie Slide” will be released to streaming services on Thursday night. “THURSDAY @ MIDNIGHT @toosie @ozmusiqe,” he teased along with the cover artwork.
The OZ-produced anthem is already becoming a TikTok sensation with its own dance. It’s named after popular social media influencer Toosie, who first used the song as the soundtrack for his dance video on Sunday.
Drake offers choreography instructions on the song’s hook as Toosie and his friends serve up the moves. “It go right foot up, left foot slide / Left foot up, right foot slide,” sings Drizzy. “Basically I’m sayin’ either way we ’bout to slide.”
Fans are already getting in on the “Toosie Slide” by posting their own renditions of the next dance craze on social media. Tinashe has also recorded her own video with her brothers.
“Toosie Slide” arrives ahead of Drake’s upcoming album and marks his first new music since “When to Say When” and “Chicago Freestyle,” which he released to SoundCloud and YouTube in February. He also appeared alongside Future on the 2x platinum “Life Is Good” as well as Lil Yachty’s “Oprah’s Bank Account.”
Earlier in the week, Drake shared the first photos of his 2-year-old son Adonis with the world. He also penned a heartfelt message to his loved ones. “I love and miss my beautiful family and friends and I can’t wait for the joyful day when we are all able to reunite. Until then please keep your lights on,” said Drake, who has been isolated in his Toronto mansion after testing negative for the virus.
