Lil Wayne wants some respect on his name.
In a rare moment of reflection, the Young Money boss revealed that he struggles with acceptance from the Grammys. Taking to Twitter, a conflicted Weezy asked why he hasn’t received more love from The Recording Academy throughout his 20-plus-year career.
“As an artist, when I see da Grammys coming up & I’m not involved nor invited; I wonder. Is it me , my musik, or just another technicality?” he asked. “I look around w respect & wonder competitively am I not worthy?!”
But then the five-time Grammy winner realizes that he’s still a winner despite the sometimes lack of recognition. “Then I look around & see 5 Grammys looking bak at me & I go to the studio,” he added.

Wayne’s last Grammy win was in 2017 for Best Rap Performance as a featured guest on Chance the Rapper’s “No Problem.” Prior to that, he won four Grammys in 2009 for his critically-acclaimed album Tha Carter III.
Wayne is now facing jail time after pleading guilty to a federal weapons charge. While he may yearn for more recognition, he continues to give fans music. On Friday, he dropped his latest mixtape, No Ceilings 3: B Side, featuring 14 new tracks.
