Of Montreal have announced a summer tour and new album. Lady on the Cusp is the indie-rock band’s 19th full-length studio LP and will arrive on May 17 via Polyvinyl. They’ve shared the new song “Yung Hearts Bleed Free” along with a Madeline Babuka Black–directed music video. In the clip, paper cutouts replace humans heads as they dance behind paint splotches and stenciled flowers, a stylistic nod to Larry Jordan’s animated film Our Lady of the Sphere. Check it out below.
Discussing the new song in a press statement, Of Montreal’s Kevin Barnes said it was influenced by Leos Carax’s Boy Meets Girl, the funk group Bootsy’s Rubber Band, and the purchse of a Yamaha TG33 and a Kawai K1M. “I wanted to make a strutting, sexy little vamp of a song that just kind of chugged along and felt relaxed and playful and free,” he said.
