Adrianne Lenker has shared another music video for a Bright Future cut. This time, it’s “Evol,” and she tapped Mega Bog’s Erin Birgy to direct it. In the clip, Lenker does pushups, tosses hay bales, and watches sheep roam on a farm among a rotating cast of friends and people. Watch the slice-of-life video below.
The video is “a portrait of a wandered person, unrooted and questioning the realities of connection,” explains Birgy. “Their curiosity leads through landscapes and the people invested from them. This figure is on the verge of outgrowing stoic individualism encouraged by colonialism that fights to deny [the] interconnectedness of egoless place and being.”
Bright Future came out back in March and features the singles “Free Treasure,” “Ruined,” “Sadness as a Gift,” and “Fool.” That month, Lenker released the demo collection I Won’t Let Go of Your Hand, with all proceeds going to Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. As for Mega Bog, her last album was the proggy, experimental synthpop record End of Everything from 2023.
