Doechii Continues Stellar Month With Super Bowl Performance at House of Verizon

Less than a week after stealing the show at the Grammy Awards and winning the best rap album trophy, Doechii brought her magnetic stage presence to the Big Easy with a late night performance at the House of Verizon activation during Super Bowl weekend in New Orleans on Saturday night (Feb. 8).

In front of a star-studded crowd that included Shaquille O’Neal, Tinashe, Jon Hamm, Anthony Mackie, Quavo and Shaboozey, Doechii commanded the packed audience, often jumping off the small platform of the stage and roaming in front of the onlookers. After being introduced as a “Grammy Award-winning artist,” Doechii sank her teeth into “Persuasive,” jumping on the stage and shouting the breakdown.

She then hopped into “Denial is a River” before pivoting to “Catfish,” then closing out with a breakneck performance of “Nissan Altima.” The room had reached maximum capacity and felt sweltering by the time Doechii departed the stage, as several attendees followed her out into the New Orleans humidity.

Trending on Billboard

Along with Doechii, House of Verizon featured a performance by T-Pain on Saturday night, as well as DJ sets from Chase B and Jermaine Dupri — the latter brought out Juvenile as a surprise guest for “Back That Azz Up” and “Slow Motion.” The lineup was part of the “TAO Presents The Big Speakeasy” showcase at Fulton Alley in New Orleans.

With Alligator Bites Never Heal winning best rap album at the Grammys last Sunday (Feb. 2), Doechii became just the third woman artist to take home that prize. Her medley of “Catfish” and “Denial is a River” was named the best performance of the Grammys ceremony by Billboard; meanwhile, her streaming catalog exploded following the Grammys exposure for the rising Tampa MC.
