Bob Dylan Announces Art Book Point Blank (Quick Studies)

A new book of Bob Dylan’s artwork is set to be published later this year. The coffee table-size Point Blank (Quick Studies) features approximately one hundred drawings from between 2021 and 2022, alongside “prose vignettes” courtesy of Eddie Gorodetsky, Jackie Hamilton, and Lucy Sante. Some of the pieces served as studies for paintings currently on display at London’s Halcyon Gallery through July 6, as part of an exhibition also called Point Blank. The book comes out November 18 via Simon & Schuster.

“This book showcases Bob Dylan’s mastery of telling stories, creating moods and provoking feelings,” Simon & Schuster VP Sean Manning said in a press statement. “The images are deeply evocative, at once innocent and world-weary, joyous and forlorn, humorous and sensual, enigmatic and familiar. Dylan’s ability to find beauty and mystery in the seemingly mundane is one of his great gifts—and the gift he’s continually given to the public over the years, including now with Point Blank.”

In 2016, Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize in Literature. His 2022 essay collection The Philosophy of Modern Song became a New York Times bestseller, but spawned controversy when supposedly hand-signed copies of the book were revealed to contain replica autographs. November 18 will also see Simon & Schuster release an unabridged audiobook of 2004’s Chronicles: Volume One, read by Sean Penn. Earlier this month, Dylan narrated the trailer for Machine Gun Kelly’s new album Lost Americana.
