SZA got in on the “what were you like in the ’90s?” TikTok trend over the weekend with her own unique take on the song that has accompanied many of the viral videos reaching back to that era. And, since the Goo Goo Dolls’ 1998 signature ballad “Iris” has been the soundtrack to so many of the montages posted by neighbors, friends and celebrities hearkening back to that internet 1.0 and Friends era, SZA, 36, had her own unique take on the track in her clip.

In an Instagram video that featured a present-day SZA enjoying a wind-blown sunny day on a boat, the “Kill Bill” singer shares vintage childhood shots of herself in snorkeling gear, a cowboy hat and in the hospital as a baby over her chopped and screwed version of the song. “Trend had me so cooked I couldn’t stop singing it so I made my own deep fried goo goo doll tease,” SZA wrote in the caption.

The adorable compilation runs through pics of mini SZA (born Solána Imani Rowe) posing in her Sunday finest and practicing her signature in a post that drew applause from the Goo Goo Dolls, who gave it three hearts, as well as Erykah Badu (six cherry emoji), actor Lakeith Stanfield (fire emoji), Chloe Bailey (“the prettiest baby”) and several others.

SZA is just the latest celeb to get in on the trend, joining a lengthy list that already includes former Friends star Courtney Cox, Drew Barrymore, Usher, Mya, Ginuwine, Monica, Lil Kim, 30 Seconds to Mars’ Jared Leto, Halle Berry and New Editions’ Ricky Bell, among many others.
