'A Bay Bay' Rapper Hurricane Chris Indicted On 2nd-Degree Murder Charge

Shreveport, LA – Christopher Dooley — better known as Shreveport, Louisiana rapper Hurricane Chris — was reportedly indicted by a Caddo Parish grand jury for second-degree murder in connection with the June killing of 32-year-old Danzeria Jerris. According to KSLA 12, News, Dooley was also charged with illegal possession of a stolen 2016 Mercedes Sedan, which is associated with the murder.

The ‘A Bay Bay’ phenomenon was arrested on June 19 for shooting a man outside of a Shreveport convenience store. The officers who were called to the scene discovered a man with gunshot wounds to the chest, hip and stomach. The man was rushed to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Shreveport Police Violent Crimes Unit said Dooley claimed he shot the man in self-defense after an alleged struggle over a vehicle (which turned out to be stolen). Video footage of the incident led detectives to believe Dooley was withholding the truth.

Following Dooley’s arrest, he was released on $500,000 bond and later insisted he was innocent in a video posted to his Instagram account.

“Hello world, hello world, hello world,” he began. “I’m sure you got the news by now. I was involved in a very unfortunate incident on Friday morning, a very unfortunate incident. I’m wanna thank everybody who’s been praying for the family of the deceased and everybody who’s been praying for my family. After a good, thorough investigation, my name will be cleared. Let God work, watch God work. God bless. Thank you.”

Since the “A Bay Bay” single and his subsequent debut album 51/50 Ratchet, Dooley released several mixtapes, including 2013’s Caniac and 2015’s Hurricane Season. He also dropped the singles “Ratchet” featuring Boosie Badazz in 2014 and “Sections” featuring Ty Dolla $ign in 2015.
