After going viral with his musical mashups, Amorphous drops his debut single “Back Together.”

The 23-year-old DJ-producer gets an assist from Kehlani on the breezy bop, which arrives just in time for summer. “Need you to know we ain’t gettin’ back together / But that doesn’t mean that we can’t come together,” sings Kehlani. “‘Cause I love who we are when we ain’t back together.”

Taking to Twitter, Amorphous reflected on the milestone moment. “This song means so much to me. It is truly a beautiful statement/introduction as a producer-artist,” said the Philadelphia-bred artist. “I’ve been producing for a long time, so this moment is surreal.”

Amorphous, whose real name is Jimir Reece Davis, went viral last November with his mashup of Luther Vandross’ “Never Too Much” and Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better,” earning attention from Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Missy Elliott. Fat Joe also came calling and turned the Amorphous-helmed mashup into his official single “Sunshine.”

“Back Together” is the lead single from Amorphous’s debut EP, due this July. “This is just the beginning. I’m here to stay!” he added.

In addition to collaborating with Amorphous, Kehlani can be heard on T-Pain’s new single “I Like Dat,” which dropped last week.
