Andrew Bird has announced a new album of jazz standards. The full-length, Sunday Morning Put-On, is the debut release from the Andrew Bird Trio, featuring Bird, drummer Ted Poor, and bassist Alan Hampton. See the group’s performances of “I Fall in Love Too Easily” and “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face” below. Scroll down for Bird’s upcoming tour dates.
Bird produced Sunday Morning Put-On, and the trio recorded it live at Valentine Recording Studios in Southern California. The album finds Bird, Poor, and Hampton playing standards by Duke Ellington (“Caravan”), Cole Porter (“You’d Be So Nice to Come Home To”), and more. Sunday Morning Put-On closes with its lone original song, “Ballon de peut-être.” Additional contributors to the new album include guitarist Jeff Parker and pianist Larry Goldings.
Sunday Morning Put-On is out May 24 via Loma Vista Recordings. The album follows 2023’s Outside Problems.
