The Philadelphia psych-folk duo @, comprised of Victoria Rose and Stone Filipczak, have unveiled their latest single, “Bird.” The track serves as a poignant preview of their upcoming album, Autosmile, which is set for release on October 16 via 4AD. Accompanied by a surreal music video directed by Caity Arthur, the song captures a delicate balance between melancholy and beauty.
Reflecting on the creative process behind the track, Filipczak shared, “This song was inspired by dead baby birds that kept appearing on my deck. It was written on a bike ride through Druid Hill Park in Baltimore. The lyrics have lots of puns which hopefully offset their hopelessness.”
Autosmile marks the follow-up to the duo’s 2023 effort, Mind Palace Music. Fans have already received a taste of the new project through previously released tracks, including the title track, “Punish My Mind,” and today’s new offering. Following a series of support dates with YHWH Nailgun and This Is Lorelei this fall, the band will embark on an extensive headlining tour in early 2027.
