Brittany Renner has confirmed her split from husband Kevin Gates after only 52 days of marriage.
Renner sat down with Los Angeles radio station Real 92.3 LA to talk about her relationship with the Baton Rouge rapper during the lead-up to Monday’s (June 9) BET Awards.
“We got married April 6 and divorced May 28,” Renner revealed before explaining that things aren’t finalized just yet. “But there is a 90-day waiting period in Islam to see if you’re pregnant, because then he would be responsible. And then also in those 90 days, it’s for reconciliation because Allah wants you stay married, and during those 90 days you are not to entertain anybody romantically.”
Renner, who recently converted to Islam, added: “What I will say is Islam has made my life a lot easier, I think even with this transition and things changing. I don’t think anybody gets married to not stay married, so my biggest thing for me is a nice 90-day reset just focusing on myself and pouring into myself.”

Renner went on to explain that she doesn’t have any regrets about the high-profile relationship because “I followed my heart.”
“That’s more than most people can say in this world, and I think when you do that, you get all the clarity you need and there’s no stone left unturned, you don’t have regret,” she said. “I think a lot of people, their issue is, even just in dating, in marriage, people don’t give it their all. They don’t just go for it. I feel like when you do, you’re at peace with whatever happens because I gave 100 percent.”
Gates and Renner confirmed their relationship back in April, but there were rumors around the pair dating starting in 2022.
Renner joined the cast of VH1’s Basketball Wives L.A. in 2023. She has a child with Dallas Mavericks forward PJ Washington.
