This year has brought about plenty of change in Cardi B’s life, and she’s embracing her new chapter, which she says is “very personal.”
Cardi candidly opened up about life these days in an Instagram Story on Thursday, as she heads into the release of her Am I the Drama? sophomore album.
“This chapter in my life is very personal to me,” she wrote. “I’ve proven people wrong over and over again and it’s time to prove that to point to myself again.”
The IG Story post was soundtracked by Jay-Z’s “Imaginary Players,” which Cardi heavily samples in her “Imaginary Playerz” single, which arrived on Friday (Aug. 15).

The 32-year-old also released a lavish visual to the single, which finds Cardi turning the tarmac into a fashion show runway, before heading to Paris to indulge in the luxuries of Europe and a relaxing yacht day at sea.
Earlier this week, Cardi revealed she received Jay-Z’s stamp of approval for “Imaginary Playerz.” “If he didn’t approve it, I probably wouldn’t even feel a certain type of way neither, because it’s like, ‘OK, maybe I just had to come a little bit harder,’” she said. “But I’m glad that I came hard and he loved it.”
After filing for divorce from Offset for a second time in 2024, Cardi has embraced a new relationship with NFL star Stefon Diggs, and the couple seems to be going strong as the summer wraps up.
“Imaginary Playerz” follows “Outside” as Cardi gears up to release her anticipated sophomore album, with Am I the Drama? set to arrive on Sept. 19.
