Hayley Williams and Jeff Tweedy Perform 'Ffunny Ffrends' on Colbert

A Musical Collaboration on The Late Show

In a memorable appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy joined forces with Hayley Williams’ band to deliver a spirited rendition of Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s 2010 cult favorite, “Ffunny Ffrends.” The performance served as a highlight of the evening, showcasing the chemistry between the seasoned indie-rock veteran and the Paramore vocalist.

The collaboration was preceded by a lighthearted pre-show interview featuring Tweedy and his close friend, actor Nick Offerman. The pair, whose friendship blossomed after Offerman cast Tweedy as a “washed-up Midwestern rocker” on the hit series Parks & Recreation, shared anecdotes and discussed their mutual connection with author George Saunders. During the segment, Colbert jokingly inquired about the possibility of an invitation to their next hangout, to which Tweedy responded with a laugh, “That’s what we’re here to figure out.”

Looking Ahead: Tours and New Projects

This appearance marks a significant moment in a busy season for both artists. Jeff Tweedy is preparing for a major summer tour across North America and Europe with Wilco, which will coincide with the release of a comprehensive deluxe edition of the band’s seminal 2004 album, A Ghost is Born. Meanwhile, Hayley Williams has been maintaining a rigorous schedule, having been on the road for her own solo tour since March.

Fans of both musicians have more to look forward to, as both Tweedy and Williams are set to appear on the forthcoming deluxe edition of This is Lorelei’s album, Box for Buddy, Box for Star. As they continue to navigate their respective projects, this collaborative performance on Colbert stands as a testament to their enduring influence in the modern Rock landscape.
