Ice-T was having a little too much fun messing around with AI and had a laugh at putting all of “the Ices” of hip-hop together in one photo.
The 67-year-old posted an AI-generated picture featuring himself in a Yankees fitted cap next to Vanilla Ice, Ice Cube and Ice Spice hitting an ice-skating rink together.
“Ok… Ai got us…. The ICE’s,” he tweeted, and the post has over 11,000 likes and nearly 1,000 replies.
Followers were thrown off by the bizarre photo. One fan even swapped the group of rappers into gear from the United State Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “Get your tickets to I.C.E. on Ice now,” a person wrote. Others pointed out how unrealistic the depiction of Ice Spice looks.
The other “Ice” rappers haven’t responded to Ice-T’s post, however, Ice Cube probably wouldn’t be too thrilled. He’s voiced his opposition to AI, especially in music, and threatened litigation against anyone using his vocals as part of an AI-produced track. “I don’t wanna hear an AI Drake song,” he said during an appearance on the Full Send podcast in 2023. “Yeah, I don’t wanna hear that bullshit. He should sue whoever made it… I’ma sue the motherf—r who made it and the people and the platform who play it. It’s like a sample.”
Cube continued: “Somebody can’t take your original voice and manipulate it without having to pay. I think AI is demonic. I think A.I. is going to get a backlash from organic people.”
