J. Cole Says He Has “No Interest In Making More ‘J. Cole’ Albums” & He “Won’t Try To Top” ‘The Fall-Off’

There’s been a lot of talk about The Fall-Off being J. Cole’s last album which he has referred to a couple of times, though never actually confirmed that that’s still his intention. When he revealed the album’s track list, he mentioned that he created the album with the intention of being his last, which made it sound like that was his approach and not something he was so committed to.

But on his AMA that’s taking place on his Inevitable website, he has gone into much more detail.

A fan asked about whether we’d hear more music for him and his answer was honest. He said that he has a “genuine love” for music and that he’s inspired, but more on the production side. He clarified that he has “no interest in making more “J. Cole” albums” but that his passion right now is producing music. He went on to say that The Fall-Off isn’t something he won’t try to top, but that he will write and record as it hits him.

It seems like for lack of a better term, he’s in retirement mode when it comes to rapping but he wants to lock in with other artists and produce for them, much like he has for a long while now. In the early 2010s, he was vocal about wanting to produce an entire album for Wale.

Check out his full response below and the AMA here.

I got a genuine love for music, and the blessing in dropping this album is that I’m highly inspired. I have no interest in making more “J. Cole”albums, but my passion and excitement right now is in producing. I will write, I will record when it hits me. Release new music if the spirit says to do so. But The Fall-Off is a project I won’t try to top.
