Ja Rule stopped by The Breakfast Club recently to promote his rye whiskey company Amber & Opal and talked about the passing of his friend and mentor Irv Gotti. And of course, 50 Cent was brought up because he mocked Gotti after his death in a social media post. When asked about it, Rule admitted that it made him upset. “Nobody likes goofy sh—t,” he said. “But it’s goofy sh—t.” Then added that he recently spoke to Supreme McGriff and was given some much needed advice.

“You know, ‘Prem said it best — I spoke to ‘Preme the other day and he always has the right words — because I was hot, I was ready to go nuclear. He said, ‘Rule, here’s what you got to understand who we are and what we are. We are masters of self-defense.’ And I said, ‘I love that.’ I don’t wanna start trouble, make trouble with people. But if we gotta get into it, make it, I’ll f—king end it.”

Adding, “That’s why I’m like, ‘You know what? That is the best description of what I am and who I am as a man that I could ever think about. Because that’s who we are as men: here to protect our family, protect our home, defend our honor, our names, our reputation. I’m not here to be a bully and bother people. That’s not what I’m here to do, but I am a master of self-defense.”

Earlier in the interview, he was asked about why their names continue to be associated with each other and he attributed it to 50 Cent’s habit of trolling. “I don’t bring him up per se at all,” he said. “I think that’s because he’s a troll and he keeps it going. I’ll go to the circus once in a while, you know, but I really like to stay clear of that sh—t.”

Irv Gotti passed away in February at the age of 54.
