“JID a scribbler, he silly with it” — a bar that continues to hold true release after release for the Atlanta rapper, who has recently released two songs back to back. Merely a day after JID released ‘32 (Freestyle),’ the rapper decided to drop his latest song, ‘Beau (GDLU Preluxe),’ making it clear that the rollout for his album is in full force.
With a boom bap patterned snappy drum beat, JID positions himself as a “Young black Rambo, cruising in a Lambo,” and sets the tone for what’s to come in his forthcoming full length project, God Does Like Ugly.
What’s crazier is the fact that neither of these two songs are likely to be in the album, which then raises some other questions: would we end up getting a series of JID songs unrelated to the album just as a taste test?
On the track, JID makes a bold proclamation: that he gave rappers two summers to get their shit together, then goes ahead to pay his flowers to technical rapping. Just a day before, JID even expressed his willingness to work with Kendrick Lamar, saying, “I need that Dot collab. I f**k with bruh.” With fans comparing their style and cadence all the time, the collaboration (if it ever happens) could be JID gets to stand out and prove his mettle. What do you think?
