Megan Thee Stallion turns up the heat.
After a highly-publicized battle with her record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, which resulted in a lawsuit, the Hot Girl delivers her new EP Suga. The 9 tracks, named after her newest alter ego, include collaborations with Kehlani and Gunna, plus production from The Neptunes, Timbaland, Lil Ju, J-White, Helluva, and Tommy Brown.
Meg recently tried to renegotiate her contract with 1501 Certified and its CEO Carl Crawford. That’s when “everything went left” and she ended up suing the label after they tried to block the release of her new music. She received a temporary restraining order and was able to proceed with the release.
“To be clear, I will stand up for myself and won’t allow two men to bully me, I am NO ONES PROPERTY,” Megan told her fans.
Suga is just a taste of what’s to come. Megan is now recording her debut album, and hopes the EP will hold fans over. “When the situation came up, I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I gotta put out this music. I don’t just wanna leave my fans with nothing ’cause I don’t know what’s gonna happen,’” Megan told “Ebro in the Morning.” “The music that I had made and the songs that I really, really liked so far, I was like, ‘Let’s just drop that shit on the EP.’”
She has also released the Eif Rivera-directed video for the Tupac-sampled “B.I.T.C.H.,” which opens with her alter ego Tina Snow giving advice to her newest alter ego Suga. The Hot Girl proves that she’s that “B.I.T.C.H.” while donning a dominatrix outfit, twerking in a hot tub, and riding in a drop-top Rolls-Royce.
