Mystikal Pleads Guilty to Third-Degree Rape from 2022 Arrest

Mystikal has pleaded guilty of third-degree rape, spawning from his arrest in 2022.

In 2022, the rapper, whose actual name is Michael Tyler, was charged with robbing, assaulting, and strangling a lady at his Ascension Parish residence. The victim said that Tyler prevented her from leaving by stealing her phone and keys. She was then raped against her will while searching for her lost money.

Following the sexual assault, the rapper allegedly let the woman leave after he forced her to send him money via CashApp. He pleaded guilty at a state courthouse outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Tuesday, according to local reports.

First-degree rape, simple criminal damage to property, domestic violence battery by strangling, simple robbery, and false imprisonment in connection with the assault were the charges against him. He entered a plea to a revised third-degree rape charge.

Tyler faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in jail, and the sentencing is scheduled for June. If he had been found guilty on the original charges against him, he would have received a life sentence.

Tyler previously faced similar allegations in 2004 after sexually assaulting his hairstylist. He spent six years in prison following the arrest and had registered as a sex offender upon his release.
