Legendary singer-songwriter Neil Young has officially unveiled an expansive 11-minute single, marking the highly anticipated announcement of his next album with the Chrome Hearts, titled Second Song. The upcoming LP is scheduled for release on September 18 via Reprise Records. The collection promises a diverse listening experience, featuring seven tracks in total—five of which are brand new, alongside two unreleased recordings that date back to the 1960s.
A New Chapter for the Chrome Hearts
Second Song serves as the direct follow-up to last year’s Talkin to the Trees, which stood as the debut project for Young’s collaborative outfit, the Chrome Hearts. The group returned to the familiar creative environment of Shangri-La Studios to track the new material. Maintaining a consistent sonic vision, the album was helmed by the same production team as their debut: Lou Adler, working alongside “the Volume Dealers,” a moniker for the duo of Young and Niko Bolas.
The announcement arrives at a notable time, coming just three months after the clothing brand Chrome Hearts dropped its trademark infringement claim against the musician, clearing the path for the band to continue their work under the moniker.
