New Big L Album Announced By Mass Appeal Via Nas Collab ‘u ain’t got a chance’ — Watch

If you thought hip hop gave us enough good music for the year, think again. Gone but not forgotten, and very much alive through his music, Big L has new music coming out. Matter of fact, the first taste is here.

Thanks to Mass Appeal, you can now listen to a Big L x Nas record. The song is called ‘u ain’t got a chance’ and is out with a visualiser! The song marks the beginning of Big L’s album rollout, which comes as part of Mass Appeal’s efforts to honor hip hop legends via the Legend Has It… campaign.

At the time of his untimely death, Big L was 24 years old. There is loads of music that never saw light of day, but with a new album on the way, fans get to relive an era of hip hop again — vicariously through the words of Big L. What’s more is that Jay Z and Nas are both on it!

Speaking to Rolling Stone about Big L, Nas gave the rappers his flowers. “Big L was always ahead of his time. There’s some quotes out there from me about Big L, like how terrifyingly good that he was that made me have to step up my game. We were both signed to Columbia Records and I think the world never got a chance to get Big L the way they wanted him,” Nas commented.

“It’s a blessing to have this celebration of him, and it’s a reminder that there’s different variants of hip hop and they’re all dope, but when it comes to lyricists, Big L’s the standard. A lot of people are safe out there and rap because Big L’s not no longer around. There’s a lot of stuff floating around today that’s really not good. This album will remind you that it’s not about hype, it’s about art.

And that’s what Big L’s doing with this album, reminding the world, reminding New York, that even though there’s different styles that you should do and play with, which are very dope, never forget what this shit comes from. The roots of this shit is serious talent,” he said in acknowledgement of the legend’s legacy.
