Selena Gomez Wishes Happy Birthday to Kidney Donor Francia Raisa Following Speculation Over Feud

Earlier this year, Raisa did a brief interview with TMZ and was asked if she was still on good terms with Gomez, who she donated a kidney to in 2017. She appeared to dodge the question and later said she faced online abuse as a result.

“The only thing I’m going to say is, in no way, shape, or form does anyone condone bullying, especially Selena,” said Raisa. “She literally has a whole nonprofit dedicated to mental health. … So the fact that I’m now being bullied now, as I am, it’s messing with me mentally. To me it’s just not what anyone wants for someone, you know, and she’s literally out there saying, ‘Please stop.’”

Gomez described Taylor Swift as her “only” friend in Hollywood and at some point after that Raisa unfollowed the popstar. In an episode of Gomez’s Apple TV+ docuseries, she opened up about Raisa’s decision to be her kidney donor. “I will never ever, ever be more in debt to a person than Francia,” the 30-year-old actress/singer said. “The idea of someone not even second-guessing to be a donor was unbelievably overwhelming.”

Raisa isn’t the only person some have speculated to be in a feud with Gomez this year. Hailey Bieber recently addressed accusations that she was at odds with Gomez in an interview with Emily Chang for Bloomberg’s The Circuit.

“I don’t think that this is about me, Hailey Bieber, and Selena Gomez. This is not about this pitting between two women and division between two women,” she said. “It’s about the vile, disgusting hatred that can come from completely made-up and twisted and perpetuated narratives. That can be really dangerous.” Fans appeared to instigate the drama because of Bieber’s marriage to Justin Bieber, who previously dated Gomez.
