Sunset Rubdown are back with their first music in 15 years. “Reappearing Rat,” which you can find below along with a new batch of tour dates, leads Always Happy to Explode, the cult alt-rock band’s follow-up to the 2009 LP Dragonslayer. The album arrives on September 20 via Spencer Krug’s own label, Pronounced Kroog. The song’s video is directed by Derek Janzen and stars Aaron Read.
In a press release, Krug describes “Reappearing Rat” thus: “A kind of irresponsible and lazy surrender to the notion that we’re all just stuck with ourselves, this song is for those times you think ‘Why won’t that person just leave?,’ only to realize you’re referring to yourself. For better or worse, we live in our brains. Apparently so does the rat.”
Spencer Krug is joined by Camilla Wynne, Nick Merz, and Jordan Robson-Cramer for the new recorded, which they recorded at the Noise Floor studio with producer/engineer Jordan Koop.
