In honor of Kobe Bryant, Tinashe has released the original “KOBE LA version” of her song “Hopscotch” from her album Songs for You.
On the album version, she says: “L.A. like I’m Bronny,” a reference to current L.A. Laker LeBron James. But the original lyrics paid tribute to Bryant: “L.A. like I’m Kobe,” she sings.
“the original version of this song, rereleased for KOBE,” Tinashe wrote in the comments on her SoundCloud page. “Rest in power Gigi and Kobe Bryant.”
In the wake of the helicopter crash that killed Bryant, his 13-year-daughter Gianna “Gigi” Bryant, and seven others, the L.A. songstress took to Twitter to mourn the devastating loss. “Life is wayyyy too short and unpredictable, tell people you love them. This is so crazy,” she tweeted.

Tinashe is not the only artist paying tribute to Kobe through music. Bad Bunny also released a tribute to the NBA legend with “6 Rings,” a reference to Bryant’s five NBA championship wins and his marriage. “This man has been an inspiration in many ways for me to be what I am today,” he wrote.
