Scott performed at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday (Oct. 11). While the cinematic show in front of 70,000 fans went off without a hitch, some fans hopped online afterward to criticize La Flame’s punctuality.

“Travis Scott finally gets on stage, over an hour late,” one critic wrote on X. Scott himself responded to the disgruntled fan and said the reasons for the delay were out of his control.

“Wasn’t a hour late,” he wrote. “[Lightning] delay, brudda. Flame always ready.” Scott wrote, “Never late to a night show.” Billboard reached out to Scott’s reps for additional comment.

Scott was also tweeting right up until he took the stage and clearly couldn’t contain his excitement for the show.

“JOBURGGGGGGGG ITS TIME TO SHOW THE WORLLDDDDDDDDD THE HOW YOU ROCKKKKKK LETS RIDEEEEEE,” Scott wrote in one tweet on Saturday. “U KNOW WHAT I CAME TO SEEEE.”

After the show, he added, “Nahhhhhh yall set TONE.”

Still, fans mostly left Saturday’s show overjoyed by Scott, which wasn’t the case during Flame’s performance at the UK’s Leeds Festival in August. Scott abruptly ended his headlining set early and left the stage, giving no reason for his departure. One fan theorized Scott may have gotten too close to his pyrotechnics and burned his hand after video showed the rapper shaking his hand before walking off stage. Scott never confirmed the reason for his departure but cryptically asked for fans to send him videos after.

“Who got the over head video of the intro of the set at Leeds,” Scott wrote on X. “Champain and dumbo that was maddd wild.”

Billboard’s Live Music Summit will be held in Los Angeles on Nov. 3. For tickets and more information, head here.
