Tyrese continues to speak out on his ex-wife Samantha Lee, reportedly calling the relationship a “joke of a marriage.”
The 44-year-old singer and actor recently dropped a new single “Love Transaction” that called out his former spouse for allegedly using their daughter for $20,000 in monthly child support. The song reveals Tyrese’s frustrations with his ex-wife’s actions and motivations while suggesting that her intentions were driven by money rather than love.
The track includes lyrics such as: “Dragging me in and out of court / Trying to take all that I’ve been working for / Can you justify what you say the baby needs? / Don’t I make sure she has everything? / 20,000 isn’t child support / We both know just who that money’s for.”
On Sunday (Aug. 27), the Fast and Furious actor took to Instagram Live to double down on his ex-wife, saying, “I felt like my whole marriage was a big fucking joke. Just a transaction. I got married to do it for the rest of my life. I guess it was all a game to her. So it is what it is.”
According to reporting by Hollywood Unlocked, Tyrese is in the process of appealing Lee’s hefty child support case by claiming a prenuptial agreement was in place but not being honored. The outlet also alleges that Tyrese is accusing the judge presiding over the case of bias and racism.
Tyrese filed a discrimination lawsuit against Home Depot last week after he and his associates were allegedly racially profiled when they visited a Los Angeles-area store earlier this year. “I really struggled with even filing the lawsuit because Home Depot [has] literally been my favorite place,” he said. “It’s like my Disneyland.”
Tyrese and Lee got married in 2017 and the couple share a daughter, Soraya, born in 2018. The couple announced their divorce in December 2020.
