HipHop would suffer a tragic loss following the passing of XXXTentacion, who was fatally shot in South Florida on June 28th, 2018. The 20-year old’s music impacted many people, and if you were tuned into his character, the rapper’s wisdom could have possibly rubbed off on you as well.
Just three years after the release of his single, “SAD!” it has been announced by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) that the single is now certified Diamond. The track sold over 10,000,000 units and peaked at number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 following his death. This made X the first to earn a number 1 posthumously on Hot 100 since Notorious B.I.G.
SAD! was released in March of 2018 and was originally released as the leading single on X’s album titled “?” The rapper’s album is certified 3x platinum.
