Mass Appeal & Marvel To Launch Limited Edition ‘Legend Has It…’ Comic Collab At New York Comic Con 2025

In what seems to be an unprecedented collaboration between Mass Appeal and Marvel, the two entities have joined forces to bring fans a limited edition comic to celebrate the Legend Has It… movement.

For those unaware, the Mass Appeal initiative Legend Has It… aims to acknowledge cultural changemakers in hip hop by releasing albums by Nas & DJ Premier, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, Raekwon, Big L, De La Soul, and Slick Rick. Yes, they’re featured in the comic!

Written by Brandon Thomas (Black Lightning) and drawn by Sanford Greene (Doom, Bitter Root), the project is an attempt to fuse impeccable visual storytelling with Mass Appeal’s repository of hip hop’s cultural wealth. It is a blend of the music and legacy, with a dash of mythmaking and fandom. All in all, an absolute treat for fans of hip hop (especially the old school). Here is a peep into the cover art for the comic created by Sanford Green!

In celebration of the comic and to mark its release, the comic will debut at the Comic Con in New York on October 10th at the Javits Center, with a live marquee panel titled “Comics and Hip-Hop: A Marvel x Mass Appeal Conversation.” If you’re in New York, you should be there; especially, if you’re a fan of Nas, who will also be there alongside some surprise guests. It is going to be a one night only event, where you can expect to witness some quality discourse on superhero lore and its intersections with hip hop heroes.

You can also look forward to impromptu interviews, auctions, and special drops. According to a press statement, Mass Appeal will take over Whatnot’s live shopping stage, Whatnot House, at New York Comic Con on October 10th from 5:30–7:00 PM ET, offering fans the first opportunity to purchase an exclusive variant edition of the comic. Who’s getting their copy?
