Cornelius, the project of Japanese composer Keigo Oyamada, is embarking on a fresh creative chapter. Following a recent surge of interest on TikTok, Oyamada has officially signed to the label Eat Your Own Ears. To mark the occasion, he has released a new cover of the Japanese Balearic classic, Yosui Inoue’s 1990 track “Yumenemi” (also known as “Yume Ne Mi”).
The release signals a period of renewed activity for the artist. Oyamada’s most recent projects arrived in 2024, including the Arto Lindsay-assisted EP Bad Advice/Mind Train and the ambient-focused album Ethereal Essence. These followed his 2023 LP Dream in Dream, which was released in the wake of a controversy regarding a resurfaced interview from his youth, leading to his departure from the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony.
