Vince Staples has officially announced his next studio album, Cry Baby, scheduled for release on June 5. The project marks a significant turning point in the artist’s career, serving as his debut release for Loma Vista Recordings and signaling the beginning of a more independent creative chapter.
Reflecting on the timing of the release, Staples shared in a press statement, “As the world burns, I have decided to release this album.”
The announcement follows the release of the lead single, “Blackberry Marmalade,” which arrived this past Sunday. The track is accompanied by a first-person shooter-style music video co-directed by Staples and Bradley J. Calder. Addressing the video’s reception on social media, Staples noted on Monday that YouTube had placed an age restriction on the visual, urging fans over 18 to share it with younger audiences, stating, “Our children deserve the truth.”
According to the press release, Cry Baby is centered around live instrumentation and reflects Staples’ newfound independence. This shift follows a long tenure of releases in partnership with Def Jam and Blacksmith, the label co-founded by Talib Kweli. The new album arrives as the follow-up to his 2024 LP, Dark Times.
The tracklist for Cry Baby is as follows:
- 01 Blackberry Marmalade

- 04 Run and Hide
- 05 TV Guide
- 06 The Big Bad Wolf
- 07 Only in America
