After a six-year hiatus from full-length releases, Baauer has officially announced his next studio album. Titled U, the project is scheduled for release on June 10 via LuckyMe. To mark the announcement, the producer has shared the album’s lead single, “Better,” a track that delivers nearly four minutes of relentless, dopamine-fueled Eurodisco.
The upcoming 16-track collection features a diverse array of collaborators, including Aluna, Kučka, Brazy, and Betsy, with additional piano contributions from Eli Teplin. According to a statement from the artist, the creative direction for U was heavily influenced by the BBC Essential Mixes that defined his youth in London. The album serves as a sonic journey through the dance music landscape of the early 2000s, weaving together elements of Ibiza house, bloghouse, and nu-disco. Baauer noted that his primary goal for the project was to curate a collection of “super happy music.”
U marks the producer’s first full-length effort since the 2020 release of Planet’s Mad.
