Bright Eyes Announce EP, Share Video for New Song Featuring Hurray for the Riff Raff: Watch

Bright Eyes are back with a new EP that serves as a soft accompaniment to last year’s Five Dice, All Threes. Kids Table EP is out September 26 via Dead Oceans. The indie-rock band has also shared the new song “Dyslexic Palindrome” featuring Hurray for the Riff Raff’s Alynda Segarra, who joined Bright Eyes on their recent tour to duet “Lua” together. Check out that song and its accompanying music video below.

“Alynda Segarra is one of the most soulful people I have ever encountered,” said Conor Oberst. “Everything that passes through them is haunted by the weary ghost of American music past. I have had the good fortune of recording and performing with them on many occasions and I am always blown away by Alynda’s ability to channel what is both intangible and universal. Seemingly walking along in a second line of skeletons. Blowing on a valiant horn. I know it sounds crazy but, yet, there Alynda is. Always so very present but with one foot on the other side.”

Kids Table EP spans eight songs in total, including “Dyslexic Palindrome” and the July single “1st World Blues,” in which Bright Eyes go ska. Oberst, Mike Mogis, and Nate Walcott also opted to cover the 1980 Lucinda Williams’ track “Sharp Cutting Wings (Song to a Poet)” for the upcoming EP.

Bright Eyes are currently on tour in support of their recent album. After making their way along the west coast this fall, with support from Saintseneca and Built to Spill’s Doug Martsch, the band will fly to Asia for concerts in Tokyo, Osaka, and Singapore. Check out their full list of tour dates after the jump.
