Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced that they are engaged to be married. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” the superstar musician and professional football player wrote in their joint Instagram post.
Swift and Kelce began dating in 2023 after the Kansas City Chiefs tight end publicly expressed his interest in the singer. Kelce attended the Eras Tour stop at his team’s home venue, GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, and later told his brother, on their podcast, New Heights, that he made a bracelet that he wanted to give Swift after the show. Eventually, in September 2023, Swift attended a Chiefs game, and she later said that she and Kelce were a couple by that time. In the ensuing months, Swift attended more football games, Kelce went to more Eras Tour shows, and they generally did a lot of things together. Recently, Swift went on New Heights to discuss her new album, The Life of a Showgirl.
Before dating Kelce, Swift’s longest relationship was with the actor Joe Alwyn, whom she dated for about six years. She briefly dated numerous notable figures—including Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Harry Styles, Calvin Harris, Tom Hiddleston, and Matthew Healy—but had never been engaged.
Kelce was the star of a 2016 reality show called Catching Kelce that was designed for him to find a partner. (Maya Benberry won the show, but her relationship with Kelce did not last long.) He also dated the social media influencer Kayla Nicole for a number of years, before breaking up in 2022. Like Swift, Kelce has not previously been engaged to be married.
