Drake Postpones Young Money Reunion Concert After Testing Positive For COVID-19

Toronto, Canada – Drake has been forced to reschedule his Young Money reunion concert with Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj at the last minute due to COVID-19.

The OVO Sound rapper was scheduled to share the stage with Wayne and Nicki at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage on Monday night (August 1) as part of his October World Weekend festival, marking the YMCMB trio’s first performance in almost a decade.

However, Drake announced on Monday morning that the concert has been postponed after he tested positive for COVID-19. A rescheduled date has yet to be revealed.

“I am truly devastated to say that I tested positive for Covid and the Young Money Reunion show scheduled for tonight is being rescheduled to the SOONEST date possible,” he wrote in an Instagram Story. “I will keep the city posted and share the new date whenever we have it locked.

“Until then I hope everyone stays safe and healthy and I love you all I am so sorry for letting you down on our weekend together and the moment I test negative I will give you everything I got on stage (except the Covid).”

This isn’t the first time Drake has been stricken by COVID-19. The 6 God revealed he contracted the virus last August while responding to a photo of his usually sharp Certified Lover Boy-era haircut looking a bit unkempt.

“I had Covid that shit grew in weird I had to start again,” he joked in the comments section of an Instagram fan account. “It’s coming back don’t diss.”

October World Weekend was off to a strong start before Drake had to pull the plug on the Young Money reunion. The weekend kicked off with the All Canadian North Stars concert at Toronto’s HISTORY last Thursday (July 29), where Drizzy brought out Canuck legends including Kardinal Offishall, Saukrates and surprise guest Nelly Furtado.

OVO fans were then treated to a concert from Chris Brown and Lil Baby at the Budweiser Stage on Friday (July 29) as part of their One Of Them Ones Tour, where Detroit rapper Icewear Vezzo was unveiled as the newest member of Quality Control Music.
