Lizzo celebrated her 37th birthday on Sunday, and at one point during her party, she was overcome with emotion to the point that it brought the flute-playing singer to tears.
The Detroit native took a moment to reflect on her party, and she said time stood still as she took in seeing her family members smile and her best friend Lexo cracking avocado jokes, which caused her to start bawling.
“I’m a tough cookie. I tried my whole life not to cry and be seen as anything less than strong. I had a lot of anxiety leading up to my birthday and I could feel it clogging my emotions… last night at dinner, while freaking out about not spending time with everyone equally and worrying if people were having a good time, I looked and saw my mommy brother & sister sitting in front of me, eating and smiling,” she wrote. “I looked to my right and my best friend Lexo was making a joke about eating avocados and I lost it.”

Lizzo continued: “I cried like a baby! I couldn’t control the tears pouring through the wall I’d been hiding behind. I was SO HAPPY because regardless of yesterday and regardless of what was gonna happen next, in that very moment I had everything I needed. In that moment everything was ok.”
Lizzo posted a slideshow of highlights from the celebratory night, which saw her posing for photos and laughing with friends and family. Rocking a sleek leopard-printed leotard and matching glove sleeves, another clip showed the “Truth Hurts” singer posing for the camera with Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” anthem playing.
Plenty of Lizzo’s peers and friends hopped into her comment section to wish her a happy birthday including Halle Bailey.
Even outside of the fun night, Lizzo made time to pop out for a surprise appearance at Stagecoach, where she danced during Paris Hilton’s DJ set as Hilton played her March single “Still Bad” and “Truth Hurts” hit.
Lizzo made the most of her time in the desert as she was also spotted hanging with Sydney Sweeney and The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills‘ Kyle Richards throughout the busy weekend.
