Ichiko Aoba is pulling out all the stops in 2025. The Japanese singer-songwriter and composer has announced a new album—Luminescent Creatures, which is out February 28 via Hermine and Psychic Hotline—and will embark on a world tour in support of it. Aoba has also shared the lead single, “Lucifèrine,” which you can listen to below.
“Luminescent Creatures was born from Windswept Adan,” Aoba explained. “It began when I started wondering what happened after the protagonist of Windswept Adan disappeared along with the music of the island’s inhabitants. What would be left?”
Luminescent Creatures will be Aoba’s first new album in five years, following her 2020 breakout Windswept Adan. During that gap, she also worked on scoring several films, such as 2022’s Amiko, released numerous live records, and put out two EPs: 2021’s Windswept Adan Roots and last year’s Sketch.
Her 2025 world tour for the new album begins in Hong Kong, on February 24. From there, Aoba will play select shows in Asia, Europe, Canada, and the United States. Her last scheduled concert is currently set for May 22, in Mexico City, Mexico. Find her complete list of tour dates below.
