Kanye West is undoubtedly one of the finest musicians of this generation, but is artistry the only way we measure impact? In shocking new court documents, singer La Roux corroborates model Jennifer An’s claims of sexual assault by the decorated rapper-producer.
For those that are unaware, this pertains to an ongoing lawsuit initiated by model Jennifer An, who claims to have been misbehaved with under the garb of artistic expression. According to An, Kanye choked and gagged her during a music video shoot for Roux’s song ‘In for the Kill,’ without prior discussion or consent.
“I could never forget that, it was horrific,” corroborates Roux’s message to An over Instagram, as showcased by screenshots attached as part of official court documents submitted by the survivor. “I have never seen the footage (thankfully) and obviously I asked for it to never be used or for it to be seen as you were understandably very concerned about anyone or your family seeing it,” La Roux writes in the exchange with Jennifer, who’d reached out to see if the incident La Roux witnessed was remembered.
According to the formal complaint by Jennifer and reported by Rolling Stone, Ye “rammed several fingers down her throat, continuously moving them in and out,” effectively “emulat[ing] forced oral sex.” “This is art,” West yelled, according to the lawsuit. “This is fucking art. I am like Picasso.”
According to more snippets around the Jennifer-La Roux conversation, Kanye also apparently showcased his power and threatened La Roux as far as a musical career is concerned.
