Lil Wayne Googles His Own Lyrics While Performing ‘Tha Carter 2’ Classic

Lil Wayne has put out so much music throughout his 25-year career that his head is filled with countless verses. However, all that stored information can lead to forget moments from time to time, and Weezy F Baby had that happen to him recently.

On Thursday (June 9), the Young Money boss delivered an intimate performance at a restaurant in front of famous guests including 2 Chainz and Young Money president Mack Maine, where he was joined by Robin Thicke for a duet of their 2005 collaboration “Shooter,” from Wayne’s Tha Carter II album.

While Thicke jumped on the mic and effortlessly slid into his opening verse, Tunechi required a little bit more prep time as he pulled out his phone and looked up his lyrics to the song.

The moment didn’t seem to bother the crowd too much, though, as 2 Chainz could be heard laughing with glee as he watched his ColleGrove collaborator — and one of his favorite rappers ever — dust off one of his Carter II classics. Lil Wayne even busted out a shoulder shimmy as the live band rocked out behind him.

Lil Wayne has landed on many a “top rappers” lists for his classic output and creative bars, yet when it comes to his own list there’s one artist in particular who reigns supreme.

During a visit to the What’s Wright? With Nick Wright podcast in May, Weezy was asked to name his top five rappers of all-time, and Missy Elliott took the top spot.

“It’s always gonna be first Missy Elliott,” he said. “She’s a huge influence of everything I’ve ever done. JAY-Z is the best ever to speak. Biggie, obviously. Then I have the whole Goodie Mob. Then I have UGK.”
