Today marks the one-year anniversary of Nipsey Hussle’s death. In celebration of his life, the hip-hop community has taken to social media to remember the Crenshaw icon, who was gunned down outside of his Marathon Clothing store on March 31, 2019.
But his legacy is very much alive. Nipsey won two posthumous Grammys in January and murals have been painted across his hometown in his honor, while rival gangs have come together in the aftermath of his death.
His peers continue to celebrate his lasting impact on hip-hop and his community including The Game, who penned a lengthy tribute to his friend. “Hu$$le man….. can’t believe it’s been one year since you departed from this krazy world,” said the Compton MC. “I know you’re proud of what your life’s mission has accomplished in the past 12 months. You have truly touched the hearts of people all around the world. Your face is everywhere… your music is timeless & your words are heard loud & clear.”
