The Notorious B.I.G. dissed Xscape’s looks on his 1994 single “Just Playing (Dreams),” but group member Tiny Harris said that Biggie apologized for insulting their beauty just minutes before he would be shot and killed in March 1997.

Xscape’s Harris and Kandi Burruss appeared on The Morning Hustle April 30, which saw them recount Biggie’s apology at what appears to be a 1997 Soul Train Awards afterparty.

“Somebody came, I don’t know if it was Diddy, somebody came and said, ‘Biggie wanna speak to y’all,’” Tiny said. “I was just like, ‘I’m going to see what he’s talking about.’”

She continued: “And you know, he was very nice, he was very apologetic and he basically said, ‘I don’t know what I was thinking. Look, I’m ugly as hell. Y’all is beautiful, and I just wanted to say I apologize for whatever.’”

The wild part about the encounter, according to Tiny, is that she said Biggie passed away “probably 20, 30 minutes after that.” She concluded: “It was great to hear that he acknowledged that he was wrong.”

Biggie was shot in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles during the early hours of March 9, 1997. He was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly after. The Brooklyn rapper was just 24 years old.

The Xscape-Biggie feud stemmed from Biggie dissing the group on “Just Playing (Dreams),” when he rapped, “I’ll f–k RuPaul before I f–k them ugly-a– Xscape b—–s.” The track wasn’t included as part of the original Ready to Die album version, but it made an appearance on the 2004 remastered edition and has been sampled by the likes of Nicki Minaj.
