Madi Diaz has announced a headlining tour and a follow-up LP to her Grammy-nominated album Weird Faith. The new album is called Fatal Optimist, and it arrives October 10 via Anti-. Leading the singer-songwriter’s return is lead single “Feel Something” and its black-and-white Allister Ann–directed music video, which you can watch below.
When explaining the backstory of her new song, Diaz said: “‘Feel Something’ is about the deep yearning and desire to connect. It’s the moment when you’re trying to call in the love that was lost. It’s the first single off the album because it has the sense of urgency and panic that I felt at that first moment I noticed I was alone in my relationship.”
Spanning 11 tracks, Fatal Optimist is about “the innate hope for something magical,” according to Diaz. After originally stepping into a studio to record the album with friends, she opted to revive the solitude of her initial songwriting sessions instead, tapping co-producer Gabe Wax to work alongside her at his Infinite Family studio in California.
Following a few sets at music festivals this summer and show with Caamp at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, Diaz will embark on a headlining North American tour this autumn. The North American leg begins on September 26, in Woodstock, New York, and brings her to cities big and small across the United States, with a stop in British Columbia, too. Diaz will conclude the tour on November 21, in Pioneertown, California. Find her complete list of tour dates down below.
