Offset is proving that his drive is as resilient as ever. The rapper, who was hospitalized after being shot on April 6 outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, has made it clear that he has no intention of slowing down. In a recent interview on the Creators Inc. podcast, recorded just days after the incident, the artist addressed his rapid return to the spotlight.
When asked how he managed to maintain such a demanding schedule so soon after the shooting, Offset compared his relentless energy to the iconic battery-powered toy. “Gotta keep pushin’, like the Energizer Bunny, man,” he said. “We don’t got time to be slowing down.”
The incident, which also involved an arrest of Lil Tjay on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge, did little to dampen the rapper’s focus. Offset revealed that he even managed to travel to Los Angeles to continue working on his highly anticipated next album. He explained that he utilized his private jet to recover while in transit, stating, “Put a bed in my G5, lay on that thing for six hours, go to sleep, you’re cool.”
Regarding his upcoming musical projects, Offset noted that he is currently in the final stages of refining his work. “Getting creative… removing songs, making new songs, cuz all my s–t always be off life experiences,” he shared. “What happens in my real life I just put it in the music, because I’m not a social guy that just like to go live and do s–t like that. I’m just totally locked in right now.”
Despite the severity of the situation, the rapper remains grateful for his recovery. He famously performed in a wheelchair at the University of Arkansas’s Rowfest on April 11, just five days after the shooting. “The show don’t never stop at the end of the day,” he reflected. “I was blessed enough to be able to still move. I ain’t want nobody to feel sorry for me. People get shot every day, bro. Like, I’m blessed. I can keep pushing, so why would I just sit down?”
Offset confirmed that the bullet entered his hip and that he is recovering well. He is scheduled to return to the stage on May 9 at the Xperience Live Event Center in Orlando, Florida.
